Now that it is official it has taken the media less than 24hrs to pull plays out of the same old book. Arnold Schwartzenegger has thrown his hat into the political ring as a (gasp) Republican candidate for the govenorship of California and already subtle stories about his "Nazi past" have arisen! To be fair, I haven't seen anyone outwardly accuse the would be Governator of California of being a Nazi but the subtle mention of his father's connections to the regime that forced the second world war and questions of if he will be able to shed this past has an undeniable purpose.

That purpose? Why to instill doubt about his qualification of course.

The Nazi card is just not yet obsolete. There are still many people alive that are close enough to the tragedy to make it strike a chord. And that is the purpose which is see how many people you can get to not vote for Arnie based on that alone. And make no mistake, there are some on the far flung reaches of the leftist spectrum for whom that will be the deciding factor. The sins of the father are the sins of the son. And being thus he should be disqualified from getting your vote is their philosophy.

You think I am being far fetched? I most sincerely assure you that I am not. The media wants you to know of Arnold's father's past as the impending recall bears down on California liberals like a shark out for blood. Davis is doomed. They know it. That is why you have other California Democrats throwing their hats into the ring instead of supporting him. And they see their biggest threat as the former body builder and current box office superstar.

The Nazi card is played for fear alone. You should disqualify him for it period is their stance. But if that is true perhaps we should consider the past of other politicians. How about that of Joe Kennedy Jr. or Sr.? Yup the Kennedy empire. Guess what; they too had dealing with the Nazis. GASP! Not only that but Joe Kennedy during a meeting with Herbert von Dirksen, German Ambassador to the Court of St. James's that President Roosevelt was under "Jewish Influence" even going so far as to later say that "The Democratic [party] policy of the United States is a Jewish production."

Ignoring the links to Nazi Germany and the chemicals used in concentration camps aside it is well know that Joe Kennedy Sr. admired Adolph Hitler. So if it is good enough to keep Arnold from public office you better bet your sweet bippy that every Kennedy better be recalled. Of course if we link the Kennedy's to Nazi Germany then Arnold now not only has his own past to worry about, but that of his wife as well.

Uh OH! Double trouble now for Arnold.

But what do you think the odds are that the media will hold the Kennedys accountable? If you say none to none then you are right because the Kennedy family is the Democratic Party royalty, or at least until Clinton gets through with it anyway. No the Kennedy's are untouchable even for the same things the media will bring up about Arnold.

And for the most part the Democratic Party has allowed the media to do this dirty deed of raising the specter of Nazism. They are content to question his qualifications having never held political office. But that could be just what California and the rest of this nation needs; people other than silver spooned career politicians. After all it is the same people questioning Arnold's ability to lead California, those self proclaimed experienced and career politicians, that ran it into the ground in the first place.

Sure let's let them keep power and see how much more damage they can do.

Is Arnold the best candidate for the job? Hard to tell at the moment since we know nothing about where he stands on most issues and he has very skillfully avoided talking about certain topics. In the end, after the election is when we will know the answer.
