Wake up!!!

They don’t need air planes to fly into our buildings, they do not need to attack our embassies, they can stand in our streets and effectively take over our country. They don’t need to kill almost three thousand people to …

Perspective and the “Minority Report”

Filed under: American Society & Heritage - 31 Mar 2006

Recently I received an email from a black gentleman with a family who are considering relocating to the area in which I live, one that has what is commonly called an “emerging minority population”; he was interested in the dynamics of the situation, how his family might acclimate itself to the area and what services were available for people of color.

Ben Bernanke and the “Barbarous Relic”

New Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke chairs his first meeting today (3/28). It’s appropriate to view the occasion from an historical perspective.

John Maynard Keynes, the high priest of socialistic scientism applied to economics, wrote in 1923 that “the gold standard is already a barbarous relic.” James Turk, an international authority on gold and gold prices, explains that the true barbarous relic is, not gold or the gold standard, but central banks.

Word has gotten out that CBS talk-show host David Letterman has been involved in a secret liaison these past several years. It began back in 1993 when Colleen Nestler of New Mexico began sending Mr. Letterman “thoughts of love,” and Letterman responded with televised code words and seductive eye gestures.

Say What?

Discussion and debate has degenerated to meaningless babble with opposing sides talking past each other. In this dialogue, words no longer have meaning, or at least meaning everyone agrees on. Welcome to postmodern America.

The United States of Mexico

Instead of even considering legal immigration, millions of illegals continue to flood the United States of America each and every year. Considering the comments from many of the Mexican demonstrators, who are railing against and conducting en masse demonstrations designed to stop the US from passing any legislation that would protect its borders and stop the waves of illegals that are straining US healthcare and other services, they don’t see any reason to become “legal”. Note: Over a million people become naturalized US citizens each year.

Competition as an Effective Education Reform

“You know competition is not for children. It’s not for human beings. It’s not for public education.” Former teacher, Ruth Holmes Cameron

On January 19, 2006, Heartland Senior Fellow George Clowes kicked off the Illinois School Choice Initiative’s monthly Speaker Series on Educational choice. Commencing with the premise that competition plays a very large role in all of our lives, he noted a recurring plot involves the triumph of the underdog; i.e., the American colonists defeated the most powerful nation in the world in 1783 and the women’s suffrage movement succeeded in extending the power to vote to women, though women held no bartering power.

Some Hard Truths About Immigration

To put it mildly, we have a problem with illegal immigration in this country. As it stands, we have millions of Mexicans crossing the border into our country without any consideration to our laws and our country. But what we haven’t seen a lot of until recently is attention to the issue. Illegal immigration has been a major issue in border states like California and Texas, and it has blossomed into a national issue.

GOP Senators Betray Americans for Votes

The Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee approved election-year immigration legislation Monday that is far different from what most Americans had in mind. The bill, which goes to the full senate, paves the way for millions of undocumented workers to become US citizens without having to first leave the country or pay a fine.

Conspiracy Susceptibility

In theory, liberals are supposed to be rational materialists who dismiss the spiritual realm as fiction. Ironically, they are peculiarly vulnerable to the gnostic mysticism of conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy theories appear among people of all stripes of political, religious, and social beliefs. But since they 1960s they have been most evident among liberals.

Conservatives – A Prickly Lot, Indeed

Filed under: Politics In General,The Republicans - 30 Mar 2006

Conservatives can be a prickly lot. We can be a general pain in the rear, not just for the opposing side, but amongst each other too.

Of course, those on the left have their moments of recalcitrance amongst their own, of late. We are seeing such times right now as the wacko extreme on the left seem to be infesting the internet and guiding the debate for the left with their overheated yammering and their lack of common sense and civility.

The Illegal Immigration Reform Scam

This weekend, thousands of activists and illegal aliens have been rallying in Los Angeles to protest against plans to further criminalize so-called undocumented workers. They Shoot Old Reporters, Don’t They?

You have to laugh when you see once-upon-a-time UPI reporter Helen Thomas. A creviced stump of a woman, she nevertheless goes toe to toe with anyone in the White House that happens to bare the initials “GOP.”
