Taking Back America?
By: Carolyn Hileman
Well it seems the going thing now is to take America back; they couldn’t take back the flag so they are going to try and strip America from our firm grip and give it to the illegal immigrants. Since at their last meeting for this they headlined with Roberto Lovato, he was their guest speaker and he was upset that they named their invasion civil rights, he wasn’t the only one who didn’t like that name. I have the same questions as I had the last time they were attempting to take something, who is it that they plan to take America from? Is it any one particular person or all of us? What is it they plan to take us back to?
Do they plan to take America back from the grieving mother whose son was killed defending it? How about the brave men and women who have given up the comforts of home to defend her? Just who is it they plan to take America from? The child who says the pledge of allegiance in school with pride? Or could it be they plan to take it from the single mother who works two jobs to keep food on the table? Perhaps they plan to take it from the farmer who is so deep in debt he can’t afford to fight back? Perhaps they plan to take it back by trying to make us all believe that America is a criminal country who has done nothing but cause pain and disruption across the world.
There is only one real problem with their idea and that is that you cannot take back something that was never yours to begin with. America is not something you can take away from anyone, America is more than just a country it is a spirit. You cannot dig America out of a true American’s soul, you might try but you will never be able to because it is not something you can see it is something you feel. It is that sudden urge to stand and put your hand on your heart when you see an American flag. It is the spit fire anger you feel when you hear of someone who burned an American flag. It is the feeling of the need to do something when you saw the twin towers burning. It is the feeling that you must respond to the marches of illegal immigrants that saw fit not only to carry the flag of another country but to put it above our own.
Americans do not take too kindly to being threatened, not by outsiders and certainly not by insiders; we tend to bristle at the thought of someone wishing to take America from any American citizen. We tend to get a just a little bit testy when you go around saying that you are going to take America back. Because that is what our men and women did when they fought in WWII and all of the wars that were fought. So you can try to take America back, but I don’t much think that you will be very successful because you would have to rip it out of our very soul to get it and I personally don’t think you have the guts to try that since you do not have the guts to stand up for it against illegal immigrants So go ahead and give it a try, Take America back…
“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.†–Samuel Adams
