Liberals and Conservatives; Should We Meet in the Middle?
By: Lance Winslow
Many centrist candidates and political philosophers say we need to meet in the middle when it comes to politics and work together in a common cause. Yet sometimes, well I wonder if the middle is the right place.
That is to say half way between Democrat Theory and Republican Theory. And each time we see a President switch sides or a party start moving its positions we see the electorate confused and people start to allow the mixing and matching. Democrats become Republicans, Republicans act like democrats and it becomes impossible 2-decades later to recognize what was once a Republican or Democrat.
Governing from the Center of two mistakes is unwise. And moving the country closer to the left is simply moving towards left faster. And once you move to the center then the other side tells you to move to the center again as they move further left and it is like a ratchet really, until you have completely given up on your ideals.
In fact we need a third choice, instead of the them or us or Liberal vs Conservative on a straight line, each dot being one or the other. Governing from the center makes no sense. Instead lets create another dot, at the apex of a triangle and rise above all this counter productive BS. We need priorities;
1.) Promote Self-reliance
2.) Downsize Government
3.) Reduce Taxes
4.) Keep over regulation out
5.) Protect the American People
6.) Maintain the flows of Civilization thru cooperation with Free Enterprise and only minimal regulations.
* a.) Water
* b.) Power
* c.) Transportation & Distribution, roads, rail, ports, airports, space ports, etc.
* e.) Education
* f.) Communication, common language, internet, mail, telephones
* g.) Police, Fire, enforcement, etc.
* h.) Trash control, etc.
Running our government should be simple and we must reduce most of it to a website and information, not stifling our efficiencies. Otherwise we will see continual off-shoring, outsourcing, factory closings, inflation, lowering of cost of living and quality of life and this unbelievable move towards socialism which will be the final coffin nail.
Let’s not pound that one into place. Time to get serious and moving towards the center is wrong, we have already moved too far and this is the problem. Let’s rise above this. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007.
