From Rosie the Riveter To Rosie the Ripper

By: Patti Bankson

Years ago this slogan was used by a company to advertise their product to women: “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!” Looking at some of the females who are regularly in the spotlight these days – Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, to name just a couple – I’d say that if that had ever been true, it’s true no longer. And there’s one female who is an even more obvious example of how that is no longer true…. Rosie O’Donnell.

When “The View” first started on TV, few of its discussions would have fit in the heavy-weight category. But, hey! It’s daytime television! The expectations aren’t that high, are they? To say that program has changed would be a major understatement. What started out as four women talking about their individual views on various topics has become the view of one obnoxious, domineering bully running the show by running her big mouth. Every time the sole conservative on the panel (Elisabeth Hasselbeck) tries to contribute a sentence more than two or three words long, Rosie the Ripper talks over her and shuts her down. And if talking over her doesn’t work, she comes right out and, calling Elisabeth by name, tells her she can ask a question, but she can’t just go on and on. Oh, but it’s quite alright for “the Ripper” to go on… and on and on?

She has completely taken over the show… even the other women on the panel who agree with her can’t get a word in! That alone would be annoying enough, without adding her hatred of America and our government. Incredibly, as hysterical and strident as she gets on those subjects, you ain’t seen nothin’ until George Bush is mentioned. That’s when she goes from hysteria straight to insanity. And as if her behavior weren’t crazy enough, some of the things she believes are so ridiculously over the top that… well honestly, she’s downright certifiable!!

Rosie: “Americans are fed propaganda” (She couldn’t mean by the networks, could she??), so in order to know what’s going on in our own country, we need to go outside the U.S. media. (Does she mean to those great ‘purveyors of truth’, the BBC and Al Jazeera?) “When anyone from the Middle East has been so demonized that it’s impossible for some people to believe that Iranians could ever do anything ethical, in any capacity… they’ve been dehumanized to the point where they’re not people, they’re just the enemy; they’re terrorists.”

Rosie’s ability to empathize with terrorists is touching, isn’t it? Her inability to recognize that that’s exactly what she and other American-hating leftists – here and abroad – are doing to America, Americans and American troops is stunning.

During WWII our country had Rosie the Riveter. She symbolized the six million women who took on jobs left by men who had gone to war. I think she also symbolized American strength, “can-do” spirit and support for our country and military. Unfortunately, in her place today we have Rosie the Ripper, an all-too-vocal symbol of those clueless, malcontented ingrates who don’t seem to understand that as free as they are to speak, they’re just as free not to.

It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Mark Twain
