You Are One Great American
By: Carolyn Hileman
There were a lot of big name groups pushing people to call and email yesterday, but it still came down to one. You see even though a lot of us were sending out emails and posting pleas for help it would not have gotten us very far. Without you the person who picked up the phone and typed that email it would have been just a few of us making noise. But when you picked up that phone and sent that email you joined an army of thousands determined to keep our country safe and strong. You are the ones who should take credit for stopping the dream act, because you are the one who were on the front lines and you held your position extremely well.
You may not wear a uniform, you may not carry a gun, you may not be in some other country but yesterday you were fighting for your country and you won. One can not possibly be more proud to be an American than I am right now, the American people have more than out done themselves stopping not one but three major pieces of legislation that would have weakened our defenses and added to our tax burden and you, yes you, stopped them dead in their tracks. I know some of you have family in the military and when you write them and call them you tell them that you have been fighting for our country as well and we are winning.
Now they say this is the last we will hear of the illegal immigration amnesty plan and we have all heard that before. They still have not brought out the AG FARMS bill so we can shoot it down but they will simply because they think they will get more votes and we will be there to shoot it down as well. They have said that this is a case of the democratic majority not working together and I say no, this is a case of the American people working together and when we work together we are a force that cannot be stopped.
I hope that you are proud of yourself, because I could not be prouder than I am right now of you. Even though you thought you were just one person, you picked up that phone, you sent that email and you stopped the dream act. You had no idea when you picked up that phone or sent that email that thousands of others were doing exactly the same thing you were and yet you did it anyway, you are a great American, a patriot and I am proud to know you, at ease sir or madam your job is finished for now it is time for some R & R we will send out the call when you are needed again… Today when you go to town hold your head high you are one great American.
In the End,
we will remember
not the words of our enemies,
but the silence of our friends.
