That Place Is America

By: Carolyn Hileman

What kind of person hits two people with their truck and never bothers to call 911, does not stop to render aid and instead flees to another state? A man was driving through the parking lot of the shopping mall in the town. He saw what he thought was a body laying next to the fence. He wondered if it was a Halloween prank but got out of his car to check. That’s when he realized that it was a real person and saw that there was a second body nearby. He ran to the nearest restaurant to call for help. When the cops arrived, they found an elderly couple barely alive. This person must have had no heart what so ever, one could say maybe he did not know he hit them but if that was the case, why run.

His attorney will tell us that he was afraid of being deported so he ran and never looked back. Marilyn, died in route to the hospital, Dallas, died on Sunday. His wife, Marilyn, had died while being transported to hospital shortly after the hit and run. When Dallas came out of a coma on Saturday night and was told that his wife of 52 years was dead and that he was permanently paralyzed, he asked to be removed from the respirator and died early Sunday morning. Noe Garcia Moncada, is charged with two counts of felony failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an accident. Each count is a class C felony, punishable by up to a maximum sentence of five years in prison for each charge. Additionally, Gillespie said he could face a $125,000 fine and his driver’s license could be suspended for up to five years on each charge.

Immigration advocates will tell us if we would just pass comprehensive immigration reform IE: Amnesty he would have been legal and would not have felt the need to run. We know all the usual replies we have heard them all before if we just give them amnesty the world will be a better place and all the problems will magically go away. The problem with that theory is that once they are legal their friends and family will cross the border illegally and once again we will have the same problems with no one willing to answer them. Noe, was a Mexican citizen who left the scene of an accident, would he have stayed had he been here legally I doubt it. Responses to hardship are part of our nature, one who is apt to do things illegally the first time and have no guilt in doing so, will more than likely continue doing it.

I remember reading a story a while back about a an illegal immigrant who hit someone with his car parked the car got out and ran, the only reason I remember it so well is the story was not about the person he hit, it was about the poor illegal immigrant on the run and the hardships he had. My thought then and now was well he should be used to it since he should have been on the run the minute he crossed our borders, it was later that I found out that they are celebrated not hunted. This man will get five years for each person, five years, for leaving two people on the side of the road to die, not to mention hitting them in the first place, five years…

The death of these two American citizens at the hands of this man is only worth five years, there were other charges that could have and needed to have been filed such as vehicular manslaughter, resisting arrest and I am sure I missed a bunch. However, since everyone is afraid of doing anything to these people because they might cry discrimination this man will get a sentence of only ten years. What of the family of the victims, what about their kids and grand kids are they to accept that the death of their family members was just a tragic accident, a case of them being in the wrong place at the wrong time? If that is to be the case there are sure a lot of American citizens who have been at the wrong place at the wrong time and right now that place is America.

In the End,
we will remember
not the words of our enemies,
but the silence of our friends.
