Just Another Day In America

The skies are blue , they look like they reach into the heavens, the sun is shining and the bids are singing, then you look at the headlines for the day.

A U.S. citizen was arrested under the state’s controversial new anti-illegal immigrant law overnight in Tulsa County, an opponent of the law said Thursday. The woman was arrested for transporting her boyfriend, who was an illegal alien, said the Rev. Miguel Rivera, president of the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders. Under the law, which went into effect at midnight, it is a felony to knowingly transport an illegal alien. A spokesman for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office couldn’t confirm the story. ‘’We are going to continue transporting our fellow Latinos no matter their status,’’ Rivera said.

WASHINGTON – Farmers, immigrants and their Capitol Hill allies are hoping to graft an agricultural guest-worker plan onto the multibillion-dollar farm bill. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D.-Calif., hasn’t yet decided whether to push the controversial guest-worker measure when the Senate considers the farm bill next week.

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police and officials from Immigration and Custom Enforcement took items from inside a Bethlehem home Thursday morning. Around 11 a.m. NEWS9’s Jasmine Lo was in the area of 69 Briarwood Drive when two computers and a box marked evidence were brought out from inside the home. A man working on a home nearby said around 7:30 a.m. he saw several unmarked cars and state trooper vehicles pull up to the house. He said they then used a battering ram to get inside the home.

Raleigh — Federal authorities confirmed Wednesday that a man accused of going the wrong way on Interstate 540 and causing a wreck was in the U.S. illegally. Eblin Fabiel Ocampo-Cruz, 22, was charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed and possession of a revoked license in connection with an Oct. 25 wreck on I-540 between Creedmoor and Six Forks roads. Agents with the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Cruz, a native of Honduras, was charged in 2000 with being an alien in the U.S. and was ordered to be deported two years later. Because he didn’t leave the country, he has been considered a fugitive, authorities said.

CHICAGO – Twenty-three illegal alien workers were arrested in the Joliet area Wednesday morning by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents as part of an ongoing criminal worksite enforcement investigation. The illegal workers, 16 men and seven women, were employed by ANNA II Inc., a staffing company located at 801 Golf Lane in Bensenville, Ill., that provides day laborers to various warehouses throughout the Chicagoland area. ICE made the arrests at the Rock Run Business Park in Joliet after three vans picked up the workers in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood and transported them to that location. The driver of a fourth van was taken into custody in Des Plaines. ICE agents also executed a criminal search warrant this morning at ANNA II’s Bensenville location. This remains an ongoing investigation.

Immigrations, Customs, and Enforcement better known as I.C.E.— picked up a group of illegal construction workers around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Thirty individuals were arrested at 3800 South Lumpkin Road for immigration violations.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 22 illegal immigrants Tuesday night at a suspected drop house in the far west Valley. Authorities received a tip about the house near Cotton Lane and Waddell Road in Surprise and raided the home around 9:30 p.m. Inside, they found 22 people who they said were not being held hostage.

YUMA – Smugglers who abandoned two truckloads of marijuana along the Colorado River after crossing into the United States fired shots at a helicopter carrying federal agents, but missed, authorities said. Authorities monitoring remote surveillance video cameras along the river spotted six vehicles cross the river from Mexico into Arizona late Monday night. The smugglers drove back toward Mexico when Border Patrol agents approached. But two of the smugglers’ vehicles got bogged down in the sand, and those who were in the disabled trucks escaped on foot.

The immigration meeting at the Hemmens Auditorium was nothing short of a farce. As it was being taped, only harmless and inane questions were chosen by the mayor so that no controversy was attached to his glowing picture of Elgin’s environment. Without the illegal immigrants here, the rivers would stop flowing, the downtown would go into bankruptcy and the sky would fall. After the sanitized taping, the real story came out, with real people asking real embarrassing questions. After the glowing commercial by the mayor and the really hard questions were asked and fumbled over, the results will be the same.

Takoma Park wants to steer away of the examples set by other nearby counties that are cracking down on immigrants. The town council voted to unanimously to reaffirm the town’s status as a “sanctuary city,” that does not allow police to enforce federal immigration laws. The vote came two weeks after the council denied the police chief’s request for more flexibility in executing immigration warrants only if police come upon deported felons. ABC 7 News myTAKE – What’s Your Opinion?Takoma Park has been known as an independent and liberal jurisdiction – even allowing residents who are not U.S. citizens to vote in municipal elections.

You sit quietly for a moment just taking it all in, how could this be happening in your country. What is it we pay law enforcement for? Still it really doesn’t matter I mean really they are clear across the world from you as far as you are concerned and then you hear tires screeching and people screaming and you get up to look outside, your child is laying on the sidewalk, there is blood everywhere, you run outside, cradle your child and beg to know who did this. Someone got a license plate number, the cops are there, he didn’t even stop. What kind of a person wouldn’t even stop? They are giving a description of the man behind the wheel; you are starting to feel faint.

Day after day, night after night this scene is being played out in cities and towns across America and it looks as though we are far from stopping it. Every single day and yes even on Sunday there is 12 – 25 people killed by illegal immigrants in ages two to ninety two. Sometimes they are killed by illegal immigrants behind the wheel and sometimes they have their throats slit and sometimes they are beaten to death and if they are cops they are usually shot. Every day the death tolls grow and so does the audacity of some of our leaders who insist we must legalize them all. I run the Voice an action and news blog and I see these headlines every single day and I repot them every day. And I can tell you that there is a war going on out there a war for our country and even though we have won a few battles this war is far from over and it is in you streets. You may not see it on major media but the truth is out there if you care to look.

America is under attack, not only from those who cross our borders but those who would hold open the door as well, Americans who never dreamed they would ever have to take a stand on anything are now coming out into the streets and fighting for our country. People who have never been into politics can now tell you where every candidate stands on illegal immigration and they are writing and calling to the point they feel like their fingers are about to fall off. Yet the deaths mount daily and so does the threat from our democratic senators, we have no time to lose, we must fight them or we will be defeated. Marilyn and Dallas Vance of Springfield, An accused drunken driver was in the country illegally when he drove onto a sidewalk in southwest Houston last week and fatally struck a toddler walking with her parents, authorities said.

Gissela Silvestre, 23 months, died from her injuries Oct. 16 after spending two days in critical condition at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Iriana DeJesus, 5, was abducted and killed in Hunting Park, Philadelphia by a baby-faced Honduran drifter originally only known as “Carlos”. Thanks to a DNA database, homicide investigators identified Carlos by his real name Alexis Flores, 24, but that they do not know where he has been since he was deported back to Honduras in June 2005. On 25April 2006, Lori Rountree, 44, and her daughter Adrian Rountree, 16 were murdered inside their home by Jose Presentacion Sosa, an illegal alien from Honduras, who has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide. A four year old girl was molested by Ovidio Ricaldi-Villajuan, an illegal alien from Peru, on Nov. 11, 2006 at a residence on Winterhaven Drive in southeastern Hailey. He was arrested by Hailey police at that time and has been incarcerated in the Blaine County Jail since. Jason Okon, a three-year veteran Army combat engineer who recently returned from Iraq, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for valor was assaulted in his front yard on February 2, 2007, by illegal alien Armando Martinez-Lozano. Just another day in America

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776
