America in Crisis: Who Will Bail Out We the People?
By: John Lillpop
According to experts who should know, America is mired in an economic quagmire of unprecedented gravity. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan even described it as a “once in a hundred years” meltdown, which would make it potentially more devastating than the Great Depression.
America’s so-called political leaders have addressed the crisis in a number of different ways, all equally feeble.
President Bush said he is “working hard” to solve the problem. Why is that not particularly reassuring?
John McCain openly admits that he does not understand economics. Clearly, he is not qualified to lead America through these treacherous times.
Barack Obama says he is holding back on releasing his economic plan.
Translated into simple English: Obama does not have any more of a clue about economic matters than does John McCain.
Barack Obama’s “plan,” when finally revealed, will certainly involve more federal spending and higher taxes, both of which will only exacerbate the problem.
Perhaps Americans can look to leaders in the Congress to temper some of our gut-wrenching angst?
Well, then again, perhaps not.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid likened the meltdown to a sports event when he said, “No one knows what to do. We are in new territory here. This is a different game. We’re not here playing soccer, basketball or football, this is a new game and we’re going to have to figure out how to do it.”
At least Reid admits he is in over his head when it comes to the economic meltdown.
Pity he did not have a similar revelation before his ill advised and dead wrong “war is lost” drivel about the surge and Iraq war.
When it comes to leaders with power far in excess of their reasoning capabilities, one must not overlook Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Speaker Pelosi’s instinctive reaction was to declare that Democrats bear no responsibility for the crisis, and to call for yet another costly economic stimulus package.
Both houses of Congress have been controlled by Democrats for nearly two years, yet that party bears no responsibility for the crisis?
And the Catholic Church does not have a cogent position on abortion, right Speaker Pelosi?
In addition to the latest trillion dollar crisis, Americans face other devastating problems: Social Security and Medicare are nearly bankrupt, Democrats want to implement universal health care (socialized medicine), and both John McCain and Barack Obama favor amnesty for as many as 38 million illegal aliens.
Neither John McCain nor Barack Obama is even remotely qualified to lead the nation over the next four years. Neither of their running mates is up to the task either.
With a presidential election just 40 plus days away, our nation needs an immediate answer to this question:
Who will bail out we the people?
