Obama’s American Dream

By: Patti Bankson

A politician caught off guard and speechless? Thanks to Barbara West, WFTV-Channel 9 anchor, that was Senator Joe Biden (D-DE), rendered incapable of doing what he does best…bloviating.

How? Simple. She asked about what’s troubling her viewers most… not war or economy, but… What happens if we have a completely, Liberal Democrat government? “Will we look like a socialistic country, much like Sweden?”

WEST: Starting with the infamous Karl Marx quote (**see end), she asked: “How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?”

BIDEN: (a) Are you joking? Is this a joke? (b) Or is that a real question?

WEST: (a) No. (b)That’s a question.

BIDEN: He’s not spreading the wealth around. He’s talking about giving the middle class the opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have.

That’s the “funny” part; here’s the “best” part: this interview made the “stuff” hit the fan. I mean, who does this unimportant, local news reader think she is… a journalist, or something? She even had the nerve to do what journalists are supposed to do when interviewing the (potential) next President or Vice-President… ask the hard questions, not accept bogus, slick, talking-point answers and expose the important issues they try to hide. Whoever Ms West thinks she is, or isn’t, the Obama campaign had a reward for her journalistic audacity: they complained to the station. So, no more interviews with that station. End of access for it and its viewers. Interestingly, they’re not alone… the same thing happened to Philadelphia’s KYW-TV because anchors there asked Biden whether Obama’s redistribution of wealth is socialism. I wonder whether the Philly anchors, or loved ones, were “investigated” for their gutsy behavior, like Barbara and husband have been. And like “Joe, the Plumber”, who dared to say he thought spreading the wealth sounded like socialism to him. Before the sawdust settled we learned he wasn’t really “Joe, the Plumber” (gasp), but Samuel J. (for Joseph) Wurzelbacher and… (double gasp) the dirty little bugger owes the government money.

Hmmm. Charlie Gibson looked down his nose (condescension dripping like heavy rain) at Sarah Palin and asked her some hard questions. And how about Katie Couric? She asked Sarah some hard questions, smiling all the while. Were their political affiliations investigated? Was payment of their taxes verified? What about their spouses or “significants”?

Oh, liberals talk about uniting Americans… but the uniting they envision is

us gathered together emptying our pockets into the government’s “Love Your Neighbor” collection boxes, that they will use to spread our wealth. If we have any left.

Their uniting has me envisioning us united in biting our tongues lest we ask questions they dislike, or believe in something they find offensive; next we’ll be united watching our lives under the microscope.

“Change We Need”? It’s coming to a life near you and you’ll need every bit of change you can get your hands on to survive!

** From each according to his ability, to each according to his need is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program III The phrase summarizes the principles that, under a communist system, every person should contribute to society to the best of their ability and consume from society in proportion to their needs, regardless of how much they have contributed.

That’s Obama’s American Dream.
