Snap Out of It

By: Patti Bankson

All kinds of things are happening in the Obama government that you should be paying attention to, and it seems that most of it has to do with either blaming George Bush for something (the deficit) or wiping out something he did. Very clever tactic, actually…. as long as we’re focused on the last administration, we won’t know what this one is doing, and no matter what anyone thinks of George Bush, he’s gone. Gone along with him will be some things that are beneficial to all of us, not just a few, such as his Executive Order 13202 prohibiting Project Labor Agreements on Federal and Federally funded Construction. President Obama has issued Executive Order 13502 repealing that. What Bush’s order did: make it possible for all construction workers to work on Federal and Federally Funded construction projects over $25 million. What Obama’s does: make it necessary for a construction company to be part of a union in order to even bid on such a project. In other words, if you don’t belong to a union, you won’t even be allowed to compete. No wonder we have $2,000 toilet seats, or whatever… no union, no competition, no fiscal responsibility, no real bang for our (tax) buck. Just government mandated labor agreements that make the unions very happy… after all, this is Obama keeping his campaign promise to them… and will cost countless out-of-work construction people their chance to get back to work. Maybe keep their home. I don’t think that matters to Obama, or congress, as much as this opportunity, along with Card Check, to force unions onto the workers and companies who don’t want to join. In case you’re unfamiliar with Card Check: this is where union organizers would have a worker publicly sign a union membership card (or not) in the organizers’ presence, instead of the usual secret ballot. For some reason they want us to believe this public coercion more accurately reflects the workers desire to go union or not. ??

Whether you’re a construction worker, or not… a union member, or not… out of work, or not… if you’re a citizen who loves this country and the freedoms we (still) have, you need to be attending to your life, here. I’m not just talking about trying to replace the job and income you may have lost. I know that’s important, to say the least, but at this point, that could turn out to be the least of your worries. If we don’t wake up… all of us… replacing that job and income will get even harder because there will be fewer jobs available to us than there are now. That is, unless you work for the government or in a union dominated and controlled industry. Because, as you can see, the federal government that some now tout as the best thing since fast food is out to change our country from a nasty, old Capitalistic state into a totally dependent Socialist-Zombie state. So, if you’re still back in the political dark-ages and really believe it when a politician of any persuasion reaches out to you and says, “I’m with the government and I’m here to help you”, please do yourself a favor and say, “Thanks, but no thanks”, and Snap Out of It!
