Obama is LBJ With Charisma
By: Craig Chamberlain
With Arlen Specter calculating his chances of political survival are better being on the side of the Dear Leader rather than opposing him he has given the Democrats what they haven’t had in decades: total control. Remember the glory days our republic went through the last time the Democrats ran every level of government? No? You don’t remember our bumbling in foreign affairs, getting bogged down in Vietnam, letting the soviets push us around, and not knowing how to do anything about it. Then there were the great triumphs on the domestic front. Ah, the glory days. Sky high taxes to pay for the war on poverty. Ok, we didn’t eliminate poverty but it was a glorious, valiant, struggle. So what if it created a permanent underclass that was dependent on the government for its survival? Our hearts were in the right place.
Then we had the great domestic harmony that we achieved during that period. What, we didn’t? Oh, that’s right, race riots from coast to coast. Yes, progressivism produces such good things. The Democrats have, for the last forty years, been more interested in social experiments that result in race riots than they are in actually doing what’s best for the country. I don’t know if history will repeat itself, but given the historical illiteracy of the American people it wouldn’t surprise me if it did.
President Obama has us on the fast track to full blown socialism, his crusade against business isn’t accompanied by the usual leftist rhetoric, but it is the same campaign. Whether its the social democracy of Europe, Hugo Chavez and his Bolivarian socialism or (let’s be perfectly honest here) President Obama and the Democratic party, business is always the enemy. It’s either something to be eliminated or something to be brought under the control of the state. Capitalism means economic freedom and less dependence on the state, and for statists that’s an abhorrent thought. For the statists, no matter their political philosophies, it’s everything in the state, everything for the state, and nothing outside the state.
And since we’re being honest this is what the Democrats have always wanted. They’ve long openly admired any state where the government is in control of its peoples lives. Whether it’s Castro’s Cuba, Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, or Mao in China they can’t restrain there enthusiasm for a state that’s omnipresent. There elitism doesn’t allow them to think that they shouldn’t have power over everyone. They believe themselves to be the educated, enlightened class that is the natural aristocracy. We’re the lice ridden, illiterate peasants who are supposed to work all day and not question orders.
And there isn’t a thing the Republicans can do to stop them. With Specters defection they are in control. There is nothing that can be done to stop this train wreck. If Obama wants to( and he’s never one to waste a crisis) nationalize every major industry in America there isn’t a thing we can do to stop him. If he wants to cut the military back to a mere militia incapable of defending America or our allies there isn’t anything we can do to stop it. If he wants to impeach any conservative judge on trumped up charges so he can pack to the bench with leftists who are more concerned with empathy than the law, there isn’t a thing we can do to stop him.
If he wants to gerrymander every congressional district so that there’s going to be a perpetual Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, there isn’t anything the GOP can do about it. If Obama wants to ratify the Kyoto protocols, sign the Law of the Sea Treaty, and give sovereignty to the UN there isn’t anything that can be done about it.
Getting the picture? That’s something the GOP leaders should make clear to the American people every single day. Until that message is pounded into their heads, that everything from here on out is solely the work of the Democratic party, they’ll continue to blame the Republicans and reward the Democrats, and considering the fifth column nature of the media they’ll probably do that no matter how much we inform them. No matter what goes wrong from here on out, the Republicans can honestly claim: we didn’t do it.
We’ve seen what happens when the two party system breaks down and all checks and balances vanish. It wasn’t pretty forty years ago and it’s going to be even uglier this time. I guess it’s a simple matter that the American people don’t remember the past or didn’t learn its lessons. Let’s hope this time we learn our lesson, and that there’s something of the country left if we do.
