This Little Piggy Went to Congress

By: Patti Bankson

This Little Piggy Went To Market. Did this Little Piggy spend his own money at the market? Money he had earned while working a real job? Or did this Little Piggy use Big Hog-Daddy government-issued food stamps?

This Little Piggy Stayed Home. Why? Was it a week-end, or a legal holiday? Or was this Little Piggy on a (real person’s) budget and knew he didn’t have money to spend right now? Or perhaps this Little Piggy was out of work because Big Hog-Daddy government interference and mandated benefits had made it unprofitable for his employer to keep him employed? Or maybe this Little Piggy was collecting unemployment benefits that Big Hog-Daddy government decided should be extended and felt there was no rush to find a new job?

This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef. Because this Little Piggy knew how to work hard, budget, stock up, and save for a rainy day?

This Little Piggy Had None. For whatever reason. But not to worry… Big Hog-Daddy government will take from the above-mentioned Little Piggy whatever portion of his roast beef Big Hog-Daddy government thinks he doesn’t need and should be sharing.

And This Little Piggy Cried Wee, Wee, Wee All The Way Home. Why was Little Piggy crying? Because Big Hog-Daddy government had taken away everything he had worked so hard for and given it by the Billions and Trillions to car companies who no longer have jobs to offer, banks who will not lend, and people who will not work.

Silly old nursery rhyme. Maybe. But, on a daily basis someone in government lets us know how silly, unimportant and stupid they think we are, and how important and all-knowing they think they are. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, was a startling example when he said this on the Senate floor: “And let me say this to all of the chattering class that so much focuses on those little tiny, yes, porky amendments, the American people really don’t care. The American people care far more that there’s a proposal in the bill, this one I pushed, that gives a $2,500 tax credit to families who pay tuition to put their kids through college. They care far more about that than about some small provision in the bill that shouldn’t be there because the tax relief from tuition costs that they’re going to get means far more to them. They care more about a provision that keeps the teachers in their schools.”

“Chattering class”? Excuse me? Obviously to him we’re just annoying background noise to be dismissed as easily as television commercials… just something to fill the empty space between his chatterings. If you’re not a New Yorker, his opinion may not matter, but remember candidate Obama’s “clinging to guns and God.”? Obviously, Schumer’s not alone… he’s just too stupid to keep quiet. As for that big $2,500 tax credit? Well! If that’s enough to keep you quiet while Big Hog Daddy government throws away your money in this Porkulus Bill, then you’re living in that nursery rhyme with the Little Piggy. And that’s where you deserve to live.
