White House in “Serious Crisis” – who will Take Advantage?

By: Neil Braithwaite

When Rahm Emanuel said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste,” he probably never imagined the White House having its own “serious crisis.” But due to the current economic non-recovery and President Obama’s free falling approval ratings driven down by his push for government run health care and a ground swell of dissent for his policies, Chief of Staff, Emanuel has a big decision to make – how to “take advantage” of a White House crisis?

On the other hand, Republicans, conservatives and those who oppose the administration’s policies have a big decision to make as well – how do they “take advantage” of a White House crisis?

Given the seriousness of the “advantage” outcome for both the White House and the Republicans, the ensuing political chess match will be both challenging and exciting to watch.

While there are several effective strategies that could just as easily be used by both the White House and the loyal opposition, both parties should take careful consideration on how to proceed so they don’t come across as playing tit-for-tat politics.

The American people want fairness, straight answers, positive results, and an ultimate solution to the current economic problems. They also want substantive policy issues debated on their merits – not politics as usual.

Get ready for a September to remember!
