Acorn: How do I Prosecute Thee? Let me Count the Ways

By: Jim Byrd

The analogue: The Democratic Party begot the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), and ACORN subsequently begot Barack Obama; ACORN is also involved in an intimate and symbiotic relationship with the Democratic Party. It also participates in a contrasting and mutually exclusive relationship with conservatives, and the idea of democracy.

The Left created a branded phrase by associating Dick Cheney with Halliburton: Cheney = Halliburton, Halliburton = Cheney, and so went their mantra. In a reciprocally befitting effigy, Obama and ACORN are, at their respective foundations, inseparable. Why? Historical and present affiliations. Obama started with ACORN, learned his tactics from ACORN, and is still a staunch supporter, and vice-versa. Obama = ACORN, ACORN = Obama.

What is this organization ACORN? ACORN is an organized crime syndicate. Don’t blame me; blame the generally accepted definition of an organized crime syndicate. ACORN’s transgressions are documented, and continue, to this day, to substantiate that they are a confederation of crooks, a centralized criminal enterprise. Their expanse is spread throughout the United States, operated by criminals for the purpose of engaging in illegal activity. But their one weakness was operating under a business model of attaining a monopolistic grip on the industry of voter fraud. They were the consummate professionals at subverting the democratic process of voting. But times and circumstances change and businesses must adapt or be left behind. So ACORN evolved.

With a page out of Jack Welch’s book for the dramatic diversification and growth of General Electric, ACORN has, too, made a dramatic diversification in the crime arena. ACORN has become proficient in the consultation and guidance of such industries as human trafficking, tax evasion, money laundering, sex slavery, pimping, under-age sex slaves, and apparently murder.

ACORN, by all appearances, violates the RICO Act on a daily basis, and if there exists a partition between Obama, the Democratic Party, and ACORN, it is a thin veil indeed. Obama is not, at least at this juncture in his professional life, directly involved in ACORN’s criminal activity, and neither is the Democratic Party, at least on a national level; but, there is a phrase to describe knowledge of a crime, encouraging a crime, and financial assistance to aid in the committing of a crime: an accessory to crime.
Not once, not twice, not thrice, but four times ACORN has been afforded top billing and starring roles in four short feature films, with an ever twisting plot consisting of murder, prostitution, human trafficking, sex slaves, and now murder in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Brooklyn, and San Bernardino.

Credited with directing and acting in the short films are James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, who played the roles of pimp and prostitute, respectively, seeking professional advice and guidance about avoiding paying income taxes, purchasing a house through HUD for use as a brothel, laundering money, and funding a political campaign. And did they hit the mother lode of advice. The enumerated and worldly advice that only a criminal sage with experience could give these two fledgling entrepreneurs ensues:
• List a prostitute as a “performance artist on tax returns.”
• Concerning the smuggled 13-15 year old sex slaves imported from El Salvador, list them as “dependents on tax returns.” Make sure to train the sex slaves to “keep their mouths shut.”
• On filling out their mortgage application: “honesty will not get you the house.”
• Advice on a retirement accounts: “when you buy the house with the backyard, you get a tin… and you bury it down in there… cover it… and put the grass over it….”
• First-hand knowledge on how not to get caught running a brothel: set up the brothel as a school to add cover for the underage prostitutes in its employ.
• And, as an added bonus, detailed instructions on how to commit murder and not get caught, and how to threaten a confidante with murder to keep them quiet.

All stories have two sides, and for the sake of fairness, it is always prudent to hear the other side of the story, especially when the organization in question is adorned in credibility, as is ACORN. Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s chief czar, made several credible and downright poignant statements regarding the four movies in which her organization so serendipitously starred:

The filmmakers committed a felony by filming ACORN employees. In other words, the filmmakers committed a felony by filming ACORN in the act of committing felony. It was a fluke, as ACORN is too sophisticated to fall for that scam; it was attempted in several other cities, but had failed for months. By its actions, Fox is not a news outlet but rather an advocacy organization for right-wing interests that seek to defeat healthcare reform and stymie solutions to the foreclosure crisis.

Thank God for the long arm of the law, as the great state of Maryland, with documented evidence in hand, is considering swift legal action against sex slavery (not really), prostitution (not on the radar), human trafficking in underage girls (not so much). Here is their official statement regarding the focus of their dragnet:

Baltimore, MD – September 11, 2009 – We have received inquiries from citizens and the media asking whether the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office would initiate a criminal investigation for acts allegedly committed at ACORN offices located in Baltimore. The only information received in reference to this alleged criminal behavior was a YouTube video. Upon review by this office, the video appears to be incomplete. In addition, the audio portion could possibly have been obtained in violation of Maryland Law, Annotated Code of Maryland Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article §10-402, which requires two party consent.
If it is determined that the audio portion now being heard on YouTube was illegally obtained, it is also illegal under Maryland Law to willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio. The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to 5 years.

Where would such a criminal enterprise as ACORN procure their endowment to operate and pay these treasured counselors? From you, of course, but only if you are one of the 40 something percent of working adults that pay taxes. ACORN has access to billions of federal dollars and are funded in the millions though HUD and various other federal programs. Additionally, Obama’s presidential campaign funneled more than $800,000 into ACORN’s coffers, and an additional $10 million was graciously received from Obama’s stimulus plan, and on and on and on.

As the age old idiom goes, it’s time to pay the fiddler; the Democrat’s chickens have come home to roost this past month with ACORN’s firing of their criminal consultants, the U.S. Census Bureau severing ties with ACORN, the tea parties having left the Democratic Congressmen running for the hills rather than facing their constituents, Obama’s foolish idea of speaking directly to a captured audience of school children (complete with a curriculum), the Van Jones debacle, the march of millions upon D.C., HUD cutting off funding to ACORN, the Senate voting to strip ACORN of all federal funding, the four released undercover videos of ACORN’s ongoing criminal enterprises, and the rapidly emerging coup de grâce: the plummeting approval ratings of Obama, his programs, and the Democrats as a whole. It has been an anxious and psychedelic month for the Democrats.

Criminal enterprising aside, the fundamental issue with even the very existence of ACORN is that the organization is a fanatical supporter of the Democratic Party; the use of federal funds, and their legitimate and illegitimate voter registrations of only Democrats, reflects this. Mathematical probability would exclude even one Republican registrant by ACORN.

Consider the exact scenario if James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles had walked into a Salvation Army, a church, or any GOP office and displayed their criminal aspirations? There would have been an attempt change their direction, or a prompt call to the authorities. Or both. That, my friends, is indicative of the fundamental difference between a conservative and a liberal. And they want to run this country. Indeed.
