John Boehner [R-Oh], What’s The Plan John

By: Ken Hughes

It’s getting dangerously close to November elections and so far the only Republican agenda is media speculation. My local TV is running the same old ads proclaiming how corrupt the other guy is. It hurts like hell to agree with the left but it’s becoming painfully obvious the right doesn’t have a plan for winning this election. Let me correct that the incumbent Republicans don’t have a plan. The Tea Party backed candidates have a plan and are taking it to their opponents. The mainstream of the Republican Party appear before the cameras spouting the same old platitudes the public has heard a million times before. If incompetent Republicans have nothing to offer then it means another two years of big government as usual. The salvation of conservatism and the country is not the old Republican Party but the new energized Tea Partiers who are making a difference. Sarah Palin has done more to bring the right together than all the speeches by John Boehner and Michael Steele combined.

If the polls are any indication the new right has a very good head start at winning back the House of Representatives and an even better shot at equaling out a balance in the Senate. What they will do with it depends on how strong they will be in taking down the good old boy seniority system that exists in congress. Congress should be one man one vote [sans] seniority. It sure as hell wasn’t freshman legislators who got this country in the mess it’s in nor was it Obama on his own the man had a lot of help from both political parties. The congress has an 11% approval rating and they’re asking to be sent back to Washington so they can bring it down to 5% that takes a lot of chutzpa on anyone’s part.

Truth be known there are no Democrats or Republicans in congress they all belong to the AGC Society, [arrogant greedy and corrupt]. Those who don’t wish to be part of the AGC can only stand on the sidelines and pray for better days to come. It takes years to become a player in congress the system is structured for seniority to prevail over the constitution. A seat in the US Senate has become the ultimate badge of greatness in the political arena. Congress spends more time polishing their image than performing their duties. A fear we all must have if Republicans are elected in 2010 will we get more repackaged same old same old? Listing to Republican incumbents I’m beginning to hear echo’s of the past rolling through the campaign canyons of 2010 what I’m not hearing is a plan to make changes if they win.

The voters for the first time in many years will send a crystal clear message to those who intend to run for public office, they better have a stronger platform than just denigrating the competition. The question is will the losers be smart enough to understand why they lost or will they continue to make excuses and point the finger elsewhere? Tea Party Grizzly Moms are wining primary after primary and are being attacked by the old school politician even those in their own party. These very able candidates aren’t attacked for their ideas rather for the traditional gender biases, such as sitting down to pee. This may be an exaggeration but it makes a point. Elected politicians who’ve been in around for years are caught between a rock and a hard spot, whether to campaign on current issues or campaign of their past performances, given the mood of the country either way they’re in trouble.

If Republicans grow up and smell the coffee they will see they have a shot at taking back congress if they graduate beyond the old campaign practices that have been used for years. Personal abuse, theft, cheating or fidelity are no longer issues that will bring down a candidate. The lack of ideas and commitment to an issue are things that bring down candidates. The voters have had enough of being talked down to now they want to look eye to eye and hear what a candidate has to say, and that candidate better have the courage to do what they say they will do.

The Obama arrogance and dishonesty finally woke the public up to the fact they’ve been getting systematically screwed by their government for decades. It has never made so clear before. When a mouse steal a bite of cheese and runs away it’s hardly noticeable, when that same mouse steals the entire brick of cheese and runs ways then it’s noticeable. For the past 18 months Obama and company are the mice who have been stealing all of the public’s cheese then gloating about it in front of them.

For the first time in two hundred years a group of pissed off citizens have come together not as a potential third party but as an unorganized group of concerned potential voters with demands and they aren’t about to be silenced by either the opposition or their own party leaders. The Tea Party is as dedicated today as it was December 16th 1773. It wasn’t that long ago when the politically oppressed of Eastern Europe stood strong and tore down a wall that had for years kept them in political bondage. The wall around Washington isn’t concrete, electrified wire and land mines it’s lies and deception. It’s cheating and corruption on the part of both political parties, there something about Washington that brings out the worst in good men and women.

The best case scenario conservatives win the majority in the house and a sixty seat majority in the senate this coming November. They don’t all have to be Republicans [all do have to be committed conservatives]. They can’t turn Obamanomics around in one stroke of the gavel it will take time and challenges to undo what’s been done this past year and a half. Republicans negotiate Democrats fight no matter how noble negotiating sounds it never wins the argument, fighters win the battles that’s way so much unpopular legislation was passed this past eighteen months. Democrats were willing to go to the matt to get their way and they will try again. National politics is never a slam-dunk nor should it be, let’s hope we never again have one political party in total control of the government.

Politicians are politicians with one mission in life and that‘s to stay on top of the political game at any cost. Their duties as legislators come somewhere down a long list of priorities.
