Democrats in Washington are consistent

If nothing else, Harry Reid and the Democrats in Washington are consistent.

Dwight Eisenhower was treated somewhat benignly in 1960 and merely called a dolt. By 1964, though, Democrats had moved on to their now familiar demonization tactic and Barry Goldwater was labeled an extremist who planned to blow up the planet. Ditto with Ronald Reagan and today, with slight variation, Sarah Palin and Sharron Angle among many others.

With their Senate Majority Leader in deep trouble in the stretch drive to November 2nd and with Republican opponent Sharron Angle polling at 49% to Reid’s 47% (according to the most recent poll by Fox News Pulse Opinion Research), Senator Reid’s once “secure” seat is now a “toss-up,” and his storm troopers are bound to intensify the “radical,” “extremist” personal attacks being leveled against Angle.

But, who is really the radical — who the extremist here?

Is it Sharron Angle? The 61 year-old mother of 2 and grandmother of 10, the former educator, former Nevada state legislator, college lecturer, and small businesswoman who also favors very sensible tort reform, health savings accounts, and offshore drilling with oversight?

Is it “extreme” to support critical Social Security reform, strong national security measures, and greater support for our military and veterans?   Or — with unemployment now at 9.6% and the private sector shedding job for the fourth straight month – is it “extreme” to believe that Washington should focus on job creation?

Sharron Angle was also among the first to take a clear stand that Obamacare must be repealed, and a growing majority of American — now 60% –agree.  Americans have come to realize that the more we learn about Obamacare – its intended and unintended costs, its effect on an already ballooning deficit, its “death panels” under an assumed name, its funding of abortion, its unconstitutional denial of the fundamental freedom of Americans to choose, to decide for themselves whether to insure themselves – the worse it is.

Obamacare was a mistake, and 60% of Americans want it repealed. Even Harry Reid’s son – Nevada’s Democratic Gubernatorial candidate – finally acknowledged last week that Obamacare could negatively impact Nevada.

Senator Reid, with dozens of states now lined up to take Obamacare to court, Nevadans would have far more respect for you if you’d simply confess what a majority of people already know: that Obamacare was a grave, even tragic mistake.   But you’re too entrenched. Your too out of touch with your own constituents.  Instead, you’re somewhere out there on the partisan periphery at the behest of President Obama insisting on full implementation of the misnamed “Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act” (which neither gives protection nor is affordable nor is concerned with health as much as it is concerned with a government takeover of America’s health care system).

Who’s the extremist, Senator Reid?  Your stench is all over Obamacare. You rammed it through – even as your colleagues admitted they had not read it! – because like Nancy Pelosi you figured America would learn to love it.  You even blocked an amendment that would have simply barred rapists and child molesters from receiving Viagra through Obamacare.

Then again, we expect nothing less.  Senator Reid, you’ve voted hundreds of other times to increase taxes, you’ve blocked tort reform, you’ve supported partial birth abortions, and you are completely incapable of dealing with our porous borders and crumbling Social Security system.  While our American troops were in Iraq fighting to win, you shamefully declared that “this war is lost” – so you could score a few cheap political points.  You also declared this April that losing thousands of jobs “really good news.”

Enough is enough!  Senator Reid, you along with Nancy Pelosi and President Obama have forgotten your most basic responsibility: to act in the best interests of the American people, to represent the people and not dictate to the people.  In so forgetting, you’ve has devolved into the most radical of extremists.
