Obama, Illegal Border Jumpers and Priorities
By: Michael John McCrae
The August 18th “Washington Times†report by Stephen Dinan was entitled: “Obama to deport illegals by ‘priority’ (Case-by-case plan will curb numbers) with its very interesting first sentence: “Bowing to pressure from immigrant rights activists, the Obama administration said… that it will halt deportation proceedings on a case-by-case basis against illegal immigrants who meet certain criteria, such as attending school, having family in the military or having primary responsible for other family members’ care.â€
There’s our illustrious leader “bowing†again. He bowed to the Saudi King. He Bowed to the Japanese Prime Minister. He bowed to his “jobs Czar†Jeff Immelt (Just kidding!) and he’ll probably bow to the pressure of Maxine Waters and the CBC if they ever have that “conversation†Maxine has been ranting about lately. But “immigrant rights activists†have gotten an unconstitutional ‘bow†from Barack Hussein Obama, probably because he still hasn’t found his original birth certificate and will need his own brand of amnesty soon.
I call the President’s action “unconstitutional†because the President swears an oath to support and defend America from all enemies foreign and domestic. Illegal border jumpers are a threat to the American economy and National Security. This is proven in too many reports to mention here. Every single one of the 11-20 million border jumpers have broken American immigration law. They are ALL criminals and possible threats to American security. Our President wants to establish categories of illegality to allow the greater number of these millions to remain in the United States so they may obtain Democrat voter registration cards. Thank you “[border jumping] immigrant rights activistsâ€!
From the report: “Administration officials made the announcement just before Mr. Obama left for a long vacation out of Washington, and as members of Congress are back in their home districts.â€
That announcement must have worn the President out. He needed a “long vacation†afterward. He also made sure Congress was out of town to avoid any possible congressional slap-down for his unconstitutional decision. There was one particular group overjoyed that Obama decided to use his dictatorial powers to override the constitutional laws of the land.
Form the report: “The move won immediate praise from Hispanic activists and Democrats who had strenuously argued with the administration that it did have authority to take these actions, and said as long as Congress is deadlocked on the issue, it was up to Mr. Obama to act.â€
“Today’s announcement shows that this president is willing to put muscle behind his words and to use his power to intervene when the lives of good people are being ruined by bad laws,” said Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez, Illinois Democrat, who has taken a leadership role on the issue since the death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy in 2009â€
The so-called “deadlock†is over the “Dream Act†that would grant amnesty to every illegal border jumper currently inside American borders and splash a big “Welcome Mat†to all those standing on the other side of the Rio Grande just itching to become American welfare recipients. The statement of Rep. Gutierrez (naturally a Democrat and even more naturally from Illinois) is simply stupid. The so-called “bad-laws†are United States immigration laws that many of the people wanting U.S. residency abide by. The statement is an affront to anyone who has tried to follow the letter of U.S. Immigration law legally. The only “muscles†Obama used in his announcement were muscles in his legs as he ran to the nearest golf course. He used “his power†to usurp Congressional Authority!
The report quotes at least one person unhappy with the hit and run tactics of Obama: “The top House Republican on the Judiciary Committee said the move is part of a White House plan “to grant backdoor amnesty to illegal immigrants. The Obama administration should enforce immigration laws, not look for ways to ignore them,” said Rep. Lamar Smith, Texas Republican. “The Obama administration should not pick and choose which laws to enforce. Administration officials should remember the oath of office they took to uphold the Constitution and the laws of the land.”
But those who have been demonstrating for the past two years; waving Mexican flags on American streets were very satisfied with Obama’s decision to bypass legislative authority. “After more than two years of struggle, demonstrations, direct actions and other activities, the administration has signaled that they are capable of delivering direct relief for immigrant families,” said Casa de Maryland, a pro-immigrant group. “We eagerly await confirmation from community members that their families can now expect to remain together.â€
This so-called “signal†will now allow a case-by-case assessment for deportations. Those already incarcerated for “criminal†activities will supposedly be the first on the judicial docket. Janet Napolitano says the government will revisit cases already completed: “…to come up with “guidance on how to provide for appropriate discretionary consideration” for “compelling cases” in instances where someone already has been ordered deported.â€
According to Ms. Napolitano those who have been ordered out of the country will have another chance to stay in the U.S. if their “compelling†case isn’t terribly criminal. It does not matter that all illegal border jumpers are criminals that have broken U.S. law. It also doesn’t seem to matter if a case has already been completed. What does matter is that the Obama Administration “bows†to illegal border jumper advocacy since: “Hispanic voters are a key voter bloc as Mr. Obama seeks re-election next year…â€
Any President who stands before “La Raza†to make a speech; declaring: “I am one of you.†should probably be taken at his word. La Raza has advocated taking back the territories won from Mexico so long ago. They advocate the destruction of American society and culture and they cheer against America’s soccer team on behalf of Mexico in an American stadium. They are as anti-American as the current Administration. This latest unconstitutional action by Obama simply says the Administration doesn’t care to defend the United States; but would rather bow to Hispanic special interests.
By the time the 2012 election replaces this unconstitutional dictatorship another 2-5 million illegal border jumpers will have jumped on to the American welfare-state wagon. Impeachment might take the wheels off that wagon. It is time to seriously consider Obama’s “compelling†case.
