Media Acts as Fifth Column
By: Craig Chamberlain
The American media takes its responsibilities seriously, a little to seriously if you ask me. They see themselves as the guardians of truth, the ones who keep our elected officials in line, and the ones who provide us with the knowledge about the rest of the world that we so desperately need. At least that’s how they see it. In reality, instead of being objective and neutral guardians of truth, they are the merchants of propaganda. They are a mercenary force. They choose what stories they will run, not based on they public’s need to know but based on their ability to push a narrative. Once the media decides what type of story it’s going to tell, it tells it, facts or no facts.
Now, as far as I am concerned that’s fine. That’s how journalism operates throughout most of the world and operated in the U.S. for some time. Journalism didn’t hide its opinions or political leanings, they embraced them. Alexander Hamilton founded the New York Post in 1801 to be a Federalist newspaper, not a neutral one. The New York Times was founded in the 1820′s to be a Democratic voice. The media pushed a partisan agenda, backed their candidates, and didn’t apologize for it.
The Civil War changed that. American consumers of news wanted hard news about the war, not partisan bickering. So the media went from being overtly partisan, to being overtly neutral while just providing the news. However they were still partisan, they just made their partisan allegiances covert. It’s still that way today. Most of the media carries water for the Democratic party, acts as pollsters for President Obama, and influencing an election rather than reporting on it. All the while they hide behind a flimsy veneer of neutrality. This is a disease of the left. Conservatives admit their conservatism. Everyone knows that the New York Post is conservative, the Times insists that it is neutral. The Chicago Tribune is conservative, the Sun- Times pretends it doesn’t know what partisan politics are. The Pittsburgh Tribune- Review acknowledges its political leanings, the Gazette pretends it doesn’t have a horse in the race.
I’m OK with partisanship. I am a partisan and I freely admit it. I want President Obama defeated and Mitt Romney elected President of the United States. It would be decent if the medial industrial complex admitted its partisan leanings. If they want to be Obama cheerleaders, that’s fine, just drop the neutrality schtick. I admit my addiction to partisanship, their is no denial here, let’s see the media admit theirs.
But such is not the case. The American media has become so servile to the administration and such useful idiots to our enemies abroad that no serious person can listen to them without finding them amusing. Case in point: the recent polling shows President Obama walking away with this election. It’s not a matter of if Romney loses, but only how bad he loses. Their polls are not scientific surveys to tell us where the race is right now. They are misinformation designed to depress Republican hopes and GOP turnout. It’s almost as if they are looking at the American people and saying: “it’s over, President Obama is going to win, and there is nothing you can do about it. Just stay home on election day.”First of all these polls sample registered voters more than likely voters, and they oversample Democrats to such an extent that they reflect the wishful thinking of the media rather than the actual numbers.
This is not journalism. It’s propaganda that would make Joseph Goebbels proud. Make no mistake their polls are nothing but lies. The national polls are a virtual tie, yet the media wants voters to believe that the President is well ahead in the battleground states and will win them all. If that were the case then it would be reflected in the national poll as well.
The medias behavior is a reflection of its desperation. Talk radio, Fox news, and the internet give conservatives a voice they’ve traditionally been denied.Their monopoly is broken and their market share is declining and its driving them crazy. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. It enrages them. That’s why words like “welfare” and “Chicago” are now racist, why Romney giving so much to charity and not taking the deductions is deceitful, its why it was a movie that caused all of the violence in the Middle East and not terrorists. They don’t care about the truth anymore, but they have to say something.
We, as Americans, should ignore the media complex. They are no longer reporters they’re liars, they are trying to undermine a free election by calling the results six weeks before election day. As conservatives we can’t let them get away with that. We must speak out, push back, and remember that President Obama’s reelection, while possible, it is not guaranteed.
Screw the media, vote Romney.
