Dirty Little Secret

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” [Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, March 9, 2010 video here]
Congress keeps cranking out thousand page bills that are filled with pork, waste, and dirty little secrets we don’t found out about until – in the words of Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi – the bill is already law.
Days ago the Senate overwhelmingly passed the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill [S.744 ‘‘Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act’’]. About 11 million illegal aliens will gain immediate legal status. And the government will consider how to secure the borders. Later. Actually, it’s left to Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano to decide if the borders need securing.
Even if you agree with this approach consider this.
The unemployment rate is 7.6%. And nearly 9 million people have left the US labor force since January 2009. [January 2009 employment report (81.023 million) and May 2013 employment report (89,705 million) yields an additional 8.682 million who have left the US labor force.] They have no job. And no hope.

The Senate bill – which faces a House vote – has a provision that exempts amnesty aliens from ObamaCare. Employers won’t have to pay the $3,000 penalty for not providing healthcare.
So, an employer has a choice. Hire an American worker and provide healthcare or pay a $3,000 fine. Or hire an alien and don’t pay for medical and don’t pay a fine.
In other words, employers will pay a $3,000 penalty to hire American workers.
It’s a dirty little secret.
