The Bush Bash By Patti Bankson (7/27/04)

Did you hear about the Bush-Bash the “2j’s” (Kerry and Edwards) attended in NYC? If any of the attendees from the left coast knew the meaning of shame, I’d say that was an occasion made for the word.  But from the reports, their behavior was not just totally shameless; it was also rank, obscene, tasteless and completely uncalled for. When people are that disrespectful, that “rude, crude and socially unacceptable”, it’s a sign they have nothing (of substance) to say.  When they throw in vulgarity and/or obscenities, they not only don’t have anything substantial to say, they also have a limited vocabulary and absolutely no class whatsoever!
Whoopi Goldberg’s “act” could make me feel ashamed to call myself a woman, but for the fact that I know women are better than that, and we don’t all feel we have to abase ourselves that way for any reason, especially not for a laugh or two. 

I’m putting Whoopi’s name on my brand new list (started right here and now) of people and products I won’t buy or support.  So, looking at my list,  there’s Susan Sarandon and husband, next is (the country) France, then Whoopi, John Mellencamp, Chevy (“the president is dumb as an egg-timer”) Chase, comedian John Leguizamo (WHO?), Paul Newman and last, but not least, Jessica Lange, who will do everything short of selling her children to “beat Bush”.

They make me think of Thumper, the rabbit, in one of my 3-year-old granddaughter’s favorite movies, “Bandi”. That’s Bambi to you and I. Thumper’s daddy taught him that “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” That’s pretty good advice, but it looks like their daddies didn’t teach them that lesson. 

Celebrities and others on the left act like theirs is the only right, uh .. correct position, and that it is shared by the majority of, if not all, Americans. And they accuse George Bush of being arrogant?? I must say, though, as offensive as their behavior may have been, I was most offended by the 2j’s.  Neither of them voiced an objection to anything that was said or done. J1 (Kerry) thanked them all for an “extraordinary evening”, saying, “every performer tonight ..  conveyed .to you the heart and soul of our country.” J2 (Edwards) said it was “a great honor” to be there and that their “campaign will be a celebration of real American values.”
 If what went on at that ‘party’ was their definition of “American values”, then their contention that George Bush is responsible for the way the “world” feels toward us, is dead wrong. The way I see it, that party is a snapshot of the true “ugly American”, so obviously ..  it’s been them all along!
