When McCain Attacks (Part II) By Jeff Jackson (11/30/04)

Books of Interest

Senator John McCain, perhaps the most famous Republican to believe that a little bit of socialism is a good thing (aka a “moderate”), has threatened to strike again.  As if violating the first amendment with his proposed and passed McCain/Feingold Bill better known as Campaign Finance Reform, was not enough the good Senator from Nevada has threaten to institute government controls on Major League Baseball.

Why?  Because steroid use is now being shown to be fairly predominant in the sport.  No?  Really?!?  You're joking right?

In the fashion of his more left leaning colleagues in the Senate and house, McCain has threatened to impose additional government regulations on something that he finds unacceptable.  McCain has threatened to impose regulations and clean up major league baseball if MLB cannot do it itself.

"I'll introduce legislation in January, but I hope that I don't have to do that." - Sen. John McCain

Ignore the fact that we already have bookshelves full of tomes containing complex and convoluted drug laws on the shelves of lawyer offices regulating everything from aspirin to how doctors prescribe painkillers to cocaine.  Now, Senator McCain plans to take it upon himself to clean up America's pastime and regulate an American business.  And the American Marxists are salivating.  To say that McCain is a “useful idiot” might be a bit of a stretch at this point, however personally I am getting closer and closer to making that title official for the Senator from Nevada.

The good Senator, I am sure, is a fine man.  However, he is quickly teaching myself and others that his skills to be a representative of freedom loving people in America are severely lacking.  He seems to have a propensity for "brain farts" and forgetting his place as a United States Senator and what the Constitution does and does not allow himself and other representatives to do.

With hundreds, if not thousands, of federal drug laws on the books compounded with thousands more state laws to back them up we are to believe that there is not, somewhere in those stacks, already at least one law that these players that use, trainers that supply, and owners that purposefully look the other way can be prosecuted under?  Are we to believe that government has been so inefficient that it has, despite all these laws, left holes that allow these people to not be held accountable?  Hmmm…given the track record of the federal government that is probably actually the case.

But this is the result of the regulation society in which the federal and state governments controlled by social Marxists have imposed on us.  The more laws the federal government passes and the more laws that it passes which violate the limited powers designated to it through the Constitution, the more “loopholes” tend to exist.  The IRS and the tax code and how millionaires get away with paying 5% or less of their income in taxes while I pay quite a bit more I think proves my point quite clearly.

We have gotten away from the concept that the law protects people from harm caused and provides them with a recourse through the courts to punish those that have harmed them.  Today however we have allowed government and people like Senator McCain to believe that they have the authority to usurp the Constitution and pass laws willy-nilly to punish businesses that don't act as the government deems proper when no real harm has been caused.  We have allowed the left through the use of “moderate” dupes to slowly erode the limited powers of the federal government and the individual liberties of the people they serve.

Here is an idea Senator McCain.  How about if Major League Baseball, the owners, the trainers or the players themselves committed a crime they are prosecuted?  How about that huh?  Oh no.  That is too simple.  No, we have to pass a new law and then enforce that law because well…government and Senators like John McCain need to keep and expand their power to feel useful.

But then again, should we expect anything less form the co-author of McCain/Feingold and the “moderate” Republican that helped forge the single biggest threat to our constitutional rights since the FCC decided that it had the right to regulate what you can and cannot say on television and radio despite the first amendment or since the government decided that the second amendment really did not apply to individual citizens like the founding fathers specifically said it did?
