Michael Moore continues to spin...

Last night on O'Reilly, Moore made an appearance. He talked about how we were wrong to be in Iraq because the Iraqis should have rebelled just like we did against the British.

Michael Moore however fails to recognize a couple important facts about the situation in Iraq. First of all Mr. Moore, the Iraqis DID rebel and they were crushed by superior firepower. So that is quite a bit of a different spin to what you are saying. Also please remember that we had help from the French in our "revolution" before they became too wrapped up in themselves to care about the rest of the world.

I have one comment on your Blog Re: Michael Moore vs O'Reilly. The French did NOT assist the US Colonists "before becoming to wrappped up in themselves" as you posit, but because the British were at the time their primary rival in the world. Just as we (perhaps mistakenly given hindsite) assisted the Afghan "freedom fighters" resist the Soviets occupation, the French simply could not pass up the opportunity to cause problems and if possible a defeat for the British. Because they cared a hoot for the freedom fighter in the US colonies? I think not. More likely because they could not resist a chance to weaken their primary imperial opponent of the time. This is exactly the same reason we will never get the cooperation we should expect from an allied nation. They do not consider us an allies, but political, economic and nationalistic opponents. Witness; they assail our drug corporations for not surrendering intellectual property rights to anti_retroviral drugs while vigorously defending the rights of Vivendi, the regions of Champagne/Burgundy etc. and a wide variety of trademarked products.

I don't know where you got the impression that I didn't think that maybe the French had alterior motives for helping us. I stated a FACT that we had help which was contradictory to what Michael Moore said on O'Reilly.
