Bringing the boys home

The Boston Globe is reporting on President Bush's plans to bring 60,000 to 70,000 U.S. Troops home from posts around the world over the next several years.
Part of this move is motivated by the need to increase homeland security here, part of it motivated by the desire for a more mobile and agile force over seas, and part of it (make no doubt) is motivated by an American public tired of keeping troops in countries that don't like to help the United States.
Foreign bases in countries like Germany that close will cost the local communities there tens of thousands of dollars and instead bring those dollars home to local communities and diminish the need to close military bases here that help support communities.
It is about time too.

And the next time one of these foreign countries is overrun, we better just shrug it off and remember that they don't like us, want us, or care that they are now occupied.
