Rice to Replace Powell

Colin Powell while a fine man caused more trouble than was needed with his dovish approach to foreign policy. It was Powell that convinced President Bush to go to the U.N. and seek a final resolution and try to bring everyone to the table even though it was at least suspected (and later confirmed) that member states of the security council were on the take from Saddam Hussein.
A redeeming feature of President Bush's administration is that he chose to surround himself with people who had different opinions and that he actually listened to them. The down side is that even in the face of a mounting evidence and need for action, moderates like Powell remained far too dovish and ignored the facts.
