Bush Still Promoting Insanity!

President Bush again tonight called for a reform to immigration that allows for guest workers to fill jobs that Americans will not do. President Bush is, once again, wrong on this issue. He should not be pushing it.
The reason that there are jobs in America that Americans will not do is because we subsidize people not to do these jobs. Through programs like unemployment benefits, welfare, and so on we have created an imaginary belief that there are jobs Americans wont do. The reality however is that these are jobs that Americans don't have to do.
There is a big difference between what President Bush and those that mistakenly portray this problem as and what the problem actually is. To frame the argument as one of there are jobs that Americans wont do portrays Americans as lazy and snobbish refusing to take jobs that are beneath them. In reality there is no job that is beneath any American. Because to be American is to work hard even at menial jobs.
Americans have always done this. And it is the height of being American.
No job is beneath an American.
What is beneath an American is to claim that it is more virtuous to keep citizens on the take from the government. And as long as we subsidize the work force not to work at entry level jobs you will never solve the problem.
