North Korea gassing its citizens: rights group
Last Updated Wed, 27 Apr 2005 08:30:27 EDT
CBC News

WASHINGTON - A human rights organization known for tracking down Nazi war criminals is taking aim at North Korea, saying the regime uses deadly nerve gas on its own citizens and may even be operating experimental gas chambers.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center sent American rabbi Abraham Cooper, the centre's associate dean, to Asia to investigate the reports, which the North Korean regime denies.

Claim: North Korea gassing citizens

North Korea's hardline communist regime is using deadly nerve gas on its own citizens and possibly is operating experimental gas chambers, according to a Jewish human rights group.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, told WorldNetDaily he went to Asia to talk with North Korean defectors who said they witnessed gruesome experimentations.

Cooper began the investigation after learning of a BBC documentary in February 2004 based on interviews with a former North Korean official who had defected. The rabbi interviewed that man and two others, who confirmed the claims.

Black student confesses to 'hate mail' hoax

After an evacuation and a visit from the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a Christian university discovered that "racist hate mail" reported on campus actually was sent by a black student looking for a way to be pulled out of school.

The student at Trinity International University in Bannockburn, Ill., whose name was withheld, confessed she sent racist letters to three minority students...

CIA can't rule out WMD move to Syria
By Rowan Scarborough

The CIA's chief weapons inspector said he cannot rule out the possibility that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction were secretly shipped to Syria before the March 2003 invasion, citing "sufficiently credible" evidence that WMDs may have been moved there.

Inspector Charles Duelfer, who heads the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), made the findings in an addendum to his final report filed last year. He said the search for WMD in Iraq -- the main reason President Bush went to war to oust Saddam Hussein -- has been exhausted without finding such weapons. Iraq had stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons in the early 1990s...

Oil-for-food probe has not cleared Annan, Volcker says
By David R. Sands

Former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Paul Volcker says his investigation into the scandal-plagued oil-for-food program has not cleared U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan of wrongdoing, despite Mr. Annan's claims to the contrary.

In an interview aired yesterday with Fox News, Mr. Volcker took direct issue with Mr. Annan's insistence that he had been exonerated by investigators probing both his role in overseeing the Iraq aid program and conflicts of interest involving a key contract awarded to a Swiss firm that employed Mr. Annan's son...

Moussaoui pleads guilty
The Washington Times

Zacarias Moussaoui pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to conspiring with the 19 terrorists who slammed hijacked airplanes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field, killing nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001.

"It is correct, I want to plead guilty to the six charges in the indictment," Moussaoui told a judge who read the charges of conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism, to commit aircraft piracy, to destroy aircraft, to use weapons of mass destruction, to murder U.S. employees and to destroy property...

Brass cleared in Abu Ghraib scandal
Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- The Army has cleared four top officers, including the three-star general who commanded all US forces in Iraq, of all allegations of wrongdoing in connection with prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib, officials said yesterday.

Lieutenant General Ricardo A. Sanchez, who became the senior commander in Iraq in June 2003, two months after the fall of Baghdad, had been faulted in earlier investigations for leadership lapses that may have contributed to prisoner abuse. He is the highest-ranking officer to face official allegations of leadership failures in Iraq, but he has not been accused of criminal violations...

China, Japan Fail to Settle Bitter Feud
Associated Press

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- Leaders of China and Japan met Saturday to try to settle their nations' worst dispute in three decades, but failed to reach an agreement in the bitter feud over Tokyo's handling of its World War II atrocities.

Chinese President Hu Jintao told Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi that Tokyo had to back up its apologies for wartime atrocities with actions, while Japan played down the tension...

Triumphs, Defeats Mark Gay-Rights Battle
Associated Press

Gay and lesbian activists are tearful in Washington state, joyful in Connecticut and angry in Texas after a series of legislative votes that reflect America's tumultuous, seesaw debate over whether to broaden or narrow their rights.

Connecticut, in a historic step last week, became the first state to approve marriage-like civil unions for same-sex couples without the prodding of a court order. However, on the same day the Texas House voted to bar gays from being foster parents; the next day the Washington Senate, by one vote, defeated a major gay civil-rights bill.

Democrats: Bush Social Security plan is 'dead'
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

President Bush's plan to partially privatize Social Security is dead, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said in a visit to Pittsburgh yesterday.

Reid along with Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, chairman of the Senate's Democratic Policy Committee, and Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, came to Coraopolis for a town meeting about Social Security...

Headlines Being Followed Today

These are a few of the stories I am reviewing today. Check American Conservative Daily this evening for comments on these and other issues of the day.

Leftist weekly: We love abortion (Paper revels in being placed on pro-life group's boycott list) - WorldNetDaily

A leftist weekly paper in Portland, Ore., has declared its love for abortion in a sarcastic response to a pro-life group putting the publication on its boycott list.

According to a statement from Life Decisions International, or LDI, it targeted the Portland Mercury as part of its Corporate Funding Project. The effort places corporations that fund abortion provider Planned Parenthood on a boycott list...

Democrats reject GOP's ethics offer - Washington Times Insider

Democrats yesterday rejected an offer by House Republicans to begin an investigation into ethics accusations against Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

The offer was made by Republicans on the House ethics committee who wanted, in exchange, an agreement from Democrats to convene the ethics panel today and accept at least a revised version of the new rules for the committee.

"We do not initiate investigative committees in press conferences," said Rep. Alan B. Mollohan, of West Virginia. The ranking Democrat on the ethics panel, Mr. Mollohan opposes the changes to committee rules that Republicans forced through earlier this year on a party-line vote...

Two U.N. oil-for-food probers resign - The Washington Times

NEW YORK -- Two senior investigators with the U.N. committee probing corruption in the oil-for-food program have resigned in protest, saying they think a report that cleared Kofi Annan of meddling in the $64 billion operation was too soft on the secretary-general, a panel member confirmed yesterday.

The investigators felt the Independent Inquiry Committee, led by former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, played down findings critical of Mr. Annan when it released an interim report in late March related to his son, said Mark Pieth, one of three leaders of the committee.

"You follow a trail and you want to see people pick it up," Mr. Pieth told the Associated Press, referring to the two top investigators who left. "What we did was we told the story that they found, but we made different conclusions than they would have."

Father defends accused soldier - Casper Star Tribune

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The father of an Army sergeant accused of killing two officers at the start of the Iraq war urged the military Wednesday to investigate religious and racial harassment he said his son faced from fellow soliders before he unleashed the grenade and rifle attack.

John Akbar's statement to the Associated Press titled "Concerned Father Seeks Justice For Loved Son" came as testimony wrapped up in Sgt. Hasan Akbar's court-martial on murder charges that carry a possible death penalty.

Jurors were to return Thursday for closing arguments and the start of deliberations.

The elder Akbar said his son had complained to superiors about threats, slurs and taunts he faced as the only black and Muslim in his platoon, but little was done before the March 2003 attack in Kuwait that also wounded 14...

Minutemen join new organization - The Washington Times

PALOMINAS, Ariz. -- The Civil Homeland Defense organization of Arizona formally took charge of the Minuteman Project yesterday, reassigning volunteers and designating new supervisors to oversee efforts to prevent migrants from illegally entering the United States.

"This project was just the beachhead for a nationwide effort to secure this nation's borders," said Bob Wright, a Hobbs, N.M., businessman who helped organize the Minuteman volunteers and is coordinating the CDH effort...

I'll Stand By It!

Wednesday, April 13, 2005

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 8:01 AM

WND today is running an article that claims Senator John Kerry did not "blow" the cover of an undercover CIA agent when he used his name in public hearings on the confirmation of John Bolton. The rationale? Why the name had been cited previously in various news sources.

John Kerry: Still A Traitor! is the article I wrote yesterday and I stand by it. Why? Because Democrats and their operatives never backed down from the Novak as a traitor allegation even when it had been shown that Ms. Plame's name was already known, mostly because of her husband who had a habit of blabbing about her. I'm holding Kerry to the same standard as Democrats held Novak in an attempt at pinning some great conspiracy on the right wing for "leaking" her name for his story.

You don't like it? I don't care!

I am starting to get fed up with Blogger and how it is inaccessable for long periods of time. I have set up a new blog called American Conservative Daily. I haven't decided what I am going to do yet however I think that I will be rethinking the Vast Right Wing Attack Blog to contain only news items of the day and use American Conservative Daily to comment on events. If Blogger doesn't fix it's log in problems soon I will not have much choice, but I think that two separate blogs, one for news from other sources and one for my own commentary would be a decent way to go and maintain both sites.

We shall see.

Liberals Are Going Nuts In Indiana!

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 8:41 PM

Because Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana is leaning towards a signing a bill passed by the legislature that would require photo IDs to vote. Democrats are of course reportedly strongly against this measure according to By Deanna Wrenn of the Associated Press.

Democratic Sen. Larry Lutz mused "We should be doing all that we can to encourage people to vote. Why should we put this additional burden on Hoosier voters?"

Gee, um let's see there Mr. Lutz. How about to make certain that people are who they say they are? No, no, no that is far to practical.

The Bill's sponsor Republican Sen. Victor Heinold made the point. "I want everyone in this state to have the right to vote -- one time," he said.

Identifying those that show up to vote and verifying that they are who they say they are is of the utmost importance to the safety and longevity of this Republic. The key here is to make certain that the ability to have a photo ID is open to all. If that means that the state must create a new form of photo ID other than driver's licenses for those that do not drive then so be it. But as usual the left is already in attack mode here trying to protect their vote early and vote often campaign strategy instead of protecting America from fraud.

John Kerry: STILL A Traitor!

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 1:30 PM

Brad Carr once said with regards to the whole Valerie Plame affair that those that outted security agents and officials were "traitors". They tried to pin it on the White House and President Bush only to later have it discovered that it was her own husband (Joe Wilson whom liberals LOVED!) that outted her role.

Brad Carr of course is a left wing political hack. And the left wing simply adored his comments about Robert Novak...that was until their claim that it was Novak that outted Ms. Plame fell apart.

So now we have this story from Yahoo: Senators May Have Blown Cover of CIA Agent. The story reports that Committee Chairman Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass both referred to a CIA agent (previously identified anonymously in hearing) by name. Thus outing him and blowing his cover.

Looks like John Kerry didn't stop his traitorous ways after Vietnam either. Tough luck old boy. Now you are a traitor even by left wing standards...which makes for unanimous consent.

Who Is The REAL Pig At The Pump

If you said the bureaucrats, give yourself a cookie! Follow the above link and you will see that in California on April 4, 2005 $0.51 of EVERY gallon went not to the big bad Oil Companies but to your State, local and Federal governments.

Got a 16 gallon tank? Got a retail price of $2.46/gallon? That means that of the $39.36 you just paid to fill up, $8.16 just went to your loving and caring government.

Now, if that doesn't get you hopping made then either you are a big government left winger or a bureaucrat yourself. You think the government wants you driving more "fuel efficient" vehicles? You think the government wants you to get twice as many gallons on half as much gasoline? Yeah, and how do you think they will make up for the short fall in their coffers?

If you said raise your taxes, give yourself another cookie.

Harry Reid Bloviates

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 7:02 PM

Quotes from old Harry about Republicans attempting to get the Senate to perform it's Constitutional role on judges:
"When it comes down to it, stripping away these important checks and balances is about the arrogance of those in power who want to rewrite the rules so that they can get their way,"
"This isn't about some arcane procedures of the Senate. It is about protecting liberty and our limited government,"
"It would mean that one political party -- be it Republicans today or Democrats tomorrow -- gets to have all the say over our nation's highest courts."

Hey, someone needs to see how many times Harry has voted for a budget that contained items that violated the clear wording of Article I Section 8 of the United States Constitution. Someone needs to see if Harry supported the constantly changing rules of the 2000 vote recount in Florida. Someone needs to see if ... ah forget it ... we already know the answers.

Answer: Harry Reid is throwing stones from his own shattered glass house.

Nothing new to see here. Move along.

Just When You Though European Socialism Was Dying

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 1:34 PM

The truth is European Socialism isn't going anywhere any time soon. Yes, you have countries back peddling on some of their asinine government controls like France and the 35 hour work week, but only because they have to. It is not because they want to.

The roll backs in certain policies are only so that the existing socialists can hold on to their power. They will simply find new ways to exert it.

Take Spain for example. Now the politicians are reportedly and broadly supporting legislation that would require men and women to share equally the house work around the home. It is yet another pandora's box that left wing ideologies are going to attempt to open.

The problems are clear and the legislation is vague. Who determines if chores were divided equally? Why the courts will of course! Does 2 hours fixing the family car equal 1 hour of doing the dishes? How about does 3 hours of running noisy children to soccer practice equate to 5 hours fixing the dishwasher?

It is a boon for radical feminists for sure who have been trying for years to portray men as the great oppressors of women because of their traditional role of "breadwinner". But in the end all it is going to do is destroy the family. It will destroy the family because the government of any country has no real interest in micromanaging the households of its citizens except for the sake of control. And that is exactly what this is all about; government micromanaging at the behest of radical feminists with a 5 o'clock shadow by 9:00 AM.

What ever happened to simply love, honor and cherish?

Early reports said that an "immigrant" from Mexico was held against his will by members that identified themselves as belonging to the Minuteman Project. Well, it turns out to be FALSE! Aw, you could hear the hearts and souls of Liberals everywhere breaking after they hit the ground running with this one.
Authorities determined Thursday that three volunteers involved in a civilian project to watch the border and report illegal crossers didn't hold an illegal immigrant against his will.

This was of course after the "immigrant" reported that he had been held against his will.

Still having trouble verifying if "immigrant" was "legal" or "illegal" since the stories I have been reading only use the term immigrant. I'll go out on a limb and say he was "illegal" though otherwise why the false report unless he was a plant.

And if he was illegal, how to do forcibly detain someone that breaking the law? Wouldn't that be something that is legally allowed? What, now citizens are not allowed to aid law enforcement? Ever hear of "citizen's arrest"?

I hate to break it to you but you cannot forcibly detain someone against their will if that person is breaking the law. Why? Because it is called an arrest! Hey, lots of criminals are "held against their will" in prisons every day. But you know what? Too FREAKING bad!

What Is Mexico Doing About Illegals?

Wednesday, April 06, 2005

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 7:34 AM

The answer is not much.
"It is our duty to alert our citizens to the danger of armed vigilantes here," - Bertha de la Rosa, director of Grupo Beta in the border town of Aguaprieta (Houston Chronicle)
They are not out there trying to stop them from crossing and breaking the laws of the United States but rather are simply out there "warning" their citizens. To make it worse, there is that "vigilante" word again.

Ok, to all the people with lower than 50 IQ south of the border and in America please note that they are not vigilantes. The ultimate authority to uphold law in this country rests within its citizenry.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Sound familiar? It should. It is the second amendment.

And what does the second amendment say? It says that the security of the United States rests with the citizens which is why they are allowed to keep and bear arms.

Police, the courts and all other structures of government that we normally think of as the "law" are only there to ensure that rights are not violated and that justice is served after the fact. They have very little to do with actually preventing crime.

Is the man that reports the description of a bank robber and his get away car to authorities a "vigilante"? No. Is a woman that puts a 9mm slug in her rapist's head a "vigilante"? No. Why is that?

Because vigilantes are "a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily" (Websters Dictionary). None of these people are "volunteer" anything. Rather they are conscripted to this duty by the wording of the second amendment. All citizens are charged as their duty of being Americans to provide for "the security of a free State".

So enough with the "vigilante" word. Don't be ignorant.

Another thought. Don't we have treaties with Mexico? Anything in them about not helping to undermine the sovereignty of America? There has to be.

To add salt to the exposed and bleeding wound exposed by the Minutemen there is now scuttlebutt about a similar project in the works for the Texas border. Oh the humanity! Heaven forbid we protect our borders.

In Other News That's Bad For The Left...

Clusters of citizens who volunteered to watch for illegal immigrants and smugglers along a swath of the Mexican border passed their first night of full patrols without incident, authorities said Tuesday. -

Damn, these "Yahoos" haven't started shooting yet? Better get your butts down there and set them up! Oh well, maybe your comrades south of the border are still planning on instigating a violent confrontation. Guess we will see.

However the border patrol couldn't go without complaining. They are griping about the Minutemen setting off the buried motion detects they have used to patrol the border oh so effectively (that's sarcasm in case you missed it) over the past couple years.

Minuteman Project Kicks Off! Left Wing Hand Wringing Begins!

Monday, April 04, 2005

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 6:32 PM

Just before its official commencement, the Minuteman Project has helped U.S. officials capture at least 18 suspected illegal aliens.

Who'd a thunk it? Not your typical liberal that is for sure. They are too busy out there decrying how these folks are "vigilantes". Or as other have called them "'Hee Haw' fans", "Dumb ass rednecks", "good ol' boys", "right wing extremists", "NAZIs", and lastly "a bunch of cheap beer drinking yahoos with guns ready to be a blazin'".

No joke! These are all descriptions I have heard from "intellectual" left wingers while perusing their blogs and websites.

Wow. Eventually you all will find a rational though. After all, the sun shines on every dog's ass every now and again; even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes; insert any proper slogan about incompetent people getting lucky here and you'd be right.

So let's cut through the crap shall we? This is the people that we are dealing with trying to cross the border
"I would like to tell those people that we are not criminals," said 22-year-old Cruz. "We came to pick crops. Our records are clean. We are not selling drugs, we only want to work. Who will pick the crops if we don't?"
- LA Times.

Hey, Zippy, you're not a criminal eh? What the Hell do you call CROSSING THE BOARDER ILLEGALLY!?!?!?!?! It is a "criminal" act. Your record may be clean but only because you didn't get caught you frootloop! You are STILL a criminal!

And as for who will pick the crops? Hmmmm...well we do have 5% unemployment in our own country so there are plenty of people to do that job. Heck, scrap the welfare system and there will be no shortage of able bodied people available for the work. So stick the "Who will do the work if we don't" crappola where the sun don't shine.

I don't know about you, but I don't really want people that don't even know that if you if break the law you are a criminal coming here. They are clearly too stupid to provide much, if any real benefit to our society. Probably why Mexico is basically helping them leave with DVDs and sending out agents to warn them to try another way.

Then they send out their police force to "protect" Mexican criminals. According to the LA Times Ruben Valenzuela, a Mexican state policeman said
"We came because they are shooting our people over there," he said. "They don't have the right to kill immigrants. People here are really angry about this."
Really? Ok maybe we have been cruel and shot a couple illegal aliens that have tried to rob our citizens, rape our women and steal got a problem with that? You got a problem with United States citizens protecting themselves? Or are you a "what's yours is mine because you are rich and I am poor" kind of socialist?

Mexicans have even admitted that the border patrol has deterred their crossing into Arizona. Many have said they will either wait until the end of the month when the minutemen leave or simply find another way around. However initial reports show that crossing are down substantially along the Arizona border where the minutemen are patrolling.

What does this mean? It means 1,000 people can make a difference and patrolling the borders actually works! This, despite the claims of the left wing that want as many poor Mexicans that think the government owes them something to flood into this country and join their ranks. Think not?

Here is a typical attitude
Santiago Ramirez, 36, was angry with his government."Tell [Mexican President] Vicente Fox to pay us better wages so we don't have to cross here," he said.
- LA Times

Gee, another socialist that wants to come to America. Another yahoo that thinks that the government should solve their problem. Perfect liberal Democrat and moderate Republican material!

The project shows that a couple thousand people stationed along the border that are actually doing their job and finding and CAPTURING illegals works! A couple thousand people at $50,000 per year would go a long way to solving the illegal immigration problems in this country. And guess what; it is actually something Congress can do Constitutionally! That is if they can get their grubby little hands out of our wallets long enough and stop stealing our money to pay for the unconstitutional programs they like such as Social Security and Medicare.

Heck if a couple hundred yahoo rednecks drinking Budweiser (typical left wing description there not mine) can have this kind of an impact, imagine what a couple thousand properly trained agents and the orders "Shoot to kill" could do!

Zero Intelligence!

Sunday, April 03, 2005

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 9:56 PM

A high school barred a student from posting a photograph of her Marine brother because it prominently showed rifles, breaking the school's zero-tolerance policy on weapons.
That is the way WND described the situation and stated that in the original story Principle Cynthia Richardson said "What message am I sending to my students if I post that picture?"

Gee, I don't know there Ms. Principle. Maybe that guns are not bad things? No, no, no because that would require commonsense and thought. Instead it was easier to apply the schools "Zero Intelligence" policy (commonly referred to as a Zero Tolerance policy).

Because there is a gun in the picture you can't show it because it violates the "Zero Intelligence" policy eh? Ok, does that mean that all of your school's history books have to be purged of pictures from the Revolutionary War that show ships firing cannons and soldiers firing muskets too? Same thing.

Does it mean that we are now even forbidden from mentioning guns in the classroom? If a picture of a gun is bad then what about mentioning that they were used? Same thing if we follow this moronic logic about how even recognizing a gun is the worst thing on Earth.

Are we now going to tell our students the following about the War of Independence:
"It was a swell thing where American patriots and British soldiers fought one another with pillows and had tea and biscuits and worked out their differences."

Can we please get some sanity back in the public reeducation camps that we call schools out there? Because if we don't, soon we won’t even be able to mention that Hitler shot, burned and gassed the Jews. I'm sure that will make all the left wing NAZIs, socialists, communists, fascists and Marxists happy because it will mean they can simply deny it ever happened. And all of our children will believe them too because, well, the history books don't mention it!

The swamp needs to be drained and these brain dead school officials need to find other work. Preferably as a janitor or some other such job where they cannot interfere with the actual learning process of our children.

Death Of A Great Man

Saturday, April 02, 2005

Posted by J. J. Jackson @ 9:30 PM

Alright, so I am not Catholic but even I can admit that Pope John Paul II was a great man and worthy of praise despite our disagreements on many issues. With his passing, the world today lost a truly remarkable man and more; we lost a man that helped to change the face of the world with his staunch opposition to Communism in Poland and the former Soviet Union.

I believe that it goes without saying that the next Pope will have large shoes to fill as Pope John Paul II was beloved in a way that no other modern Pope has been. May choirs of angles sing thee to thy rest.
